The dataset provides information on the Specific Leaf Area (SLA) measurements of the species Dodonaea viscosa from the TERN AusPlots.
Credit
We at TERN acknowledge the Traditional Owners and Custodians throughout Australia, New Zealand and all nations. We honour their profound connections to land, water, biodiversity and culture and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. The author thanks TERN AusPlots of Adelaide University to provide leaf samples for measurements.
Purpose
This activity build on existing investments by TERN, Ecosystem Modelling And Scaling infrastructure- which is about the ecophysiological measurements: the missing link between vegetation modelling, biodiversity and ecosystem function. Measurements on plant species growing under field conditions will link terrestrial ecosystem models with real ecosystems and their constituent diversity of plants.
Lineage
Specific leaf area (SLA) is defined as the ratio of leaf area to its dry mass. Measurement details are provided on prometheuswiki. Website for the study sites: http://www.tern.org.au/AusPlots-Rangelands-Survey-Protocols-Manual-pg23944.html.
