Vadose zone soil moisture was collected at the Avon River Critical Zone Observatory (CZO). The measurements were taken at four different depths: 0.6, 1.2, 1.8, 2.4 metres.

The site is located at UWA Farm Ridgefield in an area dedicated to intensive monitoring of water, energy, and nutrients. It is situated 50 meters west of the extension of Avery South Road and 700 meters south of the intersection with Lamard Road in West Pingelly, Western Australia 6308.
