Purpose
Bird surveys were conducted to to provide a description of the bird community, including its richness and composition, and having established a baseline description to monitor the dynamics and phenology of the community over time.
Lineage
Bird surveys were conducted at the Cumberland Plain site along a 1 km transect at points located at 100 m intervals. For 5 minutes at each interval point, all individual birds either seen or heard were recorded. Observers faced in different directions to maximise visual coverage of the surrounding area, but focused on the same point when extra assistance was needed to identify or observe a bird. If it is believed the bird calling is the same bird seen or heard within the 5 minute duration, it was not re-recorded.
